From the Circuit Paul Ricard in France to the Lincoln Airpark in Nebraska to the Misano World Circuit in Italy, this weekend KX is part of car races around the world — a sign of how KX technology is increasingly being recognized by competitive automotive teams for giving them a critical edge.

KX is providing sensor analytic technology, powered by kdb+, to a university motorsports team which is competing in a national challenge to design and build a race-ready Formula SAE Electric car, with the final contest scheduled for June 23rd. KX also provides sensor analytics to Aston Martin Red Bull Racing (AMRBR), who use it for the testing and design of their Formula 1 cars, and who are proving their skills against other top F1 teams on June 24th. Also check out Paul Rees, a driver for McLaren Automotive, who will take to the tracks for the next stage in the GT4 series, also on June 24th.

The university motorsports will be competing in Lincoln, Nebraska against a number of universities famous for their elite engineering departments, like the California Institute of Technology and Carnegie Mellon. The student-run Formula SAE team’s formula-style car has a system of sensors that, among other things, collect measurements from both an IMU and GPS sensor suite that provide the accurate location of the car, as well as acceleration data –used later on to calculate several metrics like maximum lateral acceleration.

University Motorsports Will be Competing in Lincoln - KX

Moving from the college tracks in Lincoln to the F1 lineup at the French Grand Prix in Marseille, Aston Martin Red Bull Racing continue their Grand Prix campaign and will look to close the gap on Ferrari and Mercedes. KX is a team supplier to AMRBR, whose engineers use our technology for advanced time-series analytics in F1 car testing and design.

“KX brings us a technology, with a comprehensive modern software stack and a reliability that the business demands,” said Brian Jones, Head of Software Development at AMRBR, “Underpinning this, is a proven track record in the finance industry processing time-series data. That is the foundation of our growing technical partnership with KX, where we share innovation, improve software and deliver tangible results to our users. As we learn with KX, we are finding more and more opportunities through the business, and we are really excited as to what KX can bring. ”

Not only are we excited to see the results of KX’s streaming analytics in action, we are also rooting for racing car driver and KX ambassador Paul Rees, who is competing in the next stage of the GT4 series in Misano.
