by Hugh Hyndman
Former director of Industrial IoT Solutions at Kx, Hugh Hyndman, has clearly retained his interest in kdb+ since deciding to step down from full-time work within the company. In a recent GitHub post he outlined a PostgreSQL extension that allows a Postgres process to access kdb+ data via an SQL interface thereby enabling the two technologies to combine their respective strengths – Postgres’ excellent transactional support for reference/master data and the high-performance capabilities of kdb+ solution to storing and analyzing extreme volumes of time-series data.
As well as outlining some performance considerations, the blog summarizes data mappings between the two systems and discusses utilities and regression test scripts that can be used to accelerate the development of new solutions incorporating both technologies.
We would like to thank Hugh for his ongoing interest and support for Kx
