The role is designed for a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) graduate or a junior developer, who is interested in a career in the IT sector, working alongside Defence and national security departments. Full training will be provided to learn the “q” programming language, which is associated with the kdb+ time series database from KX systems (staging.kx.com). The successful application can expect to be quickly engaged in development projects, supporting Defence customers to capture, store, analyse and visualise huge volumes of data in real time.

You will gain a wide array of experience in your day-to-day role and work to deliver exciting and innovative technical solutions as part of a team of subject matter experts. As part of your role, you will find yourself:
- Developing experimental applications
- Experiencing the full software product life-cycle (design, implementation, test and installation)
- Supporting customers to understand their requirements and presenting development activities to customers and other stakeholders
Essential Skills and Qualities:
- We are looking for anyone from a STEM background. Programming experience (Python) is beneficial but not necessary as our comprehensive training programming does not assume any prior programming experience.
- We are looking for bright and enthusiastic graduates who have a passion for solving technical problems with an ability to work both independently and as part of a large team. You must have a willingness to learn new skills, both technical and non-technical.
